Away from holing the winning putt in the Solheim Cup bronte Law was just a few seconds and she said it’d become the adventure of a life in the final stages at Gleneagles.
The 24-year-old Englishwoman closed her out two &1 victory over Ally McDonald in the 17th hole minutes before Suzann Pettersen wrapped up a 14.5-13.5 triumph for Europe within the USA with the last putt of the contest about the 18th.
« Watching Suzann around 18, I can hear the crowd cheer until the putt went in. So I actually reacted before she even made it around the TV, » said Law.
« So it is a good job it went because I was celebrating. But just wonderful. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life and I really don’t know if I ever will .
« It is only the best feeling on earth. I really like being part of a team. This is exactly what I play with this game for.
« I’m not a selfish individual. I really don’t do it . To be able to do it for others and for Beany (Catriona Matthew)in our house, it’s really amazing. »
Law admitted they had helped her struggle back after she was down one in the 10th to the 13th to McDonald to get four holes and also paid tribute.
« The house support was phenomenal, honestly, » she said. « That is nothing I have ever experienced in my entire life. Everybody came out and they’ve only been phenomenal and they are honestly the member of the group. And they’ve been screaming all day. And that creates a difference.
« When you can hear them actually rooting for you personally and being loud – and that’s why you play this game. Plus it keeps you moving and just gives you the pep in your step. And when things go wrong it was not all smooth sailing now, I played with some great golf, but I made some mistakes.
« And when I made those errors I just actually listened to the crowd; they had been cheering me all the way round. And to be able to perform it in front of my loved ones and lots of friends is something quite unique. »
Europe was directed by carlota Ciganda off and had a game with Danielle Kang prior to putting a 1 up victory with a birdie.
« I was clearly very happy to assist the staff, » stated the 29-year-old Spaniard. « For me personally, it is not about meit’s the team. I prefer to lose my point but the group. I believe it was important to get that point that is blue .
« I fought hard. I wasn’t familiar out there playing Danielle, but I performed my best. I won the 2 holes out of the last three. So very pleased to win there to the European group. »
Celine Boutier and georgia Hall won all three of their matches within the opening two days and they ended with a perfect 4-0 record after winning their singles games two &1, the former beating Lexi Thompson along with the latter overcoming Annie Park.
« Pretty particular. Four out of four. I had a wonderful partner in Celine, and that I was happy I played really good today to get my singles triumph, » explained Hall.
Frenchwoman Boutier added: »It is pretty unbelievable. I’m so happy to be able to bring the next stage to the team and really excited about the round now. When you play for something larger than yourself, it’s something very special and incredibly tough to explain. »
